VOLUNTEER

The Metro Atlanta Task Force for the Homeless relies on more than 2,000 volunteers annually, who give over 100,000 hours of service every year. Volunteer projects range from sorting donations to answering the phones on the hotline to working on renovation projects around the building. Below are just a few of the many ways that you can volunteer with the Task Force:

Volunteers working in the Day Service Center assist case workers
in serving clients directly.

Responsibilities include helping clients in completing intakes, searching for employment, finding shelter, transportation, and permanent housing. Volunteers in the Day Service Center can also work with our Employment Counselor in developing a weekly resource guide of job listings and other special projects.Volunteers receive training and must commit to at least one regular shift each week.

Dedicated, responsible individuals are needed to answer calls on the Task Force’s 24-Hour Homeless Assistance Hotline.
Volunteers assist callers by connecting them with resources and services while learning about the causes and conditions of homelessness, the resources available, and the gaps within services. Hotline volunteers receive training and must be able to commit to four or more hours per week.

Renovation Projects
Volunteer work groups of 8-30 people, ages 16 and up, are needed to help lay the foundation for several innovative programs that will be incorporated into the Task Force Redevelopment Master Plan. From removing old floors to pouring concrete to demolishing walls, volunteers are certain to get dirty and have a good time while doing it! Projects range from 4-8 hours, and can be a one-time commitment or become an ongoing opportunity, if desired.

Serving Meals
The Task Force depends upon over 42 churches and faith-based organizations to provide meals for 600 men every single night. While requiring quite a bit of coordination, this is a truly rewarding volunteer experience. A commitment of at least once a month is needed.

The best way to become part of our community is to visit us, learn about what we are doing, and then take action!
